Make your plan to vote
Get registered.
All residents can register to vote online, by mail, at any Secretary of State's Office or at their city or township clerk's office. You can check your voter registration status and look up information about your local clerk's office at Michigan.gov/Vote.
If registering online or by mail, you must register at least 15 days prior to any election in order to be eligible to vote in that election. You can register to vote in person at your local clerk's office up to, and including on, Election Day.
Know how and where to cast your ballot.
Michiganders have the option of voting absentee, voting early or voting in person on election day. You can register for an absentee ballot here. You can look up your voting location and poll hours for early voting and in-person voting on election day here.
Go vote!
If you choose to vote absentee, make sure to get your ballot returned to your local clerk's office by 8:00 p.m. on election day. (Military and overseas absentee ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day and received by their local clerk within six days after Election Day.)
If you choose to vote in person, make a plan to get to your polling location during early voting hours or between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.
